Nobody's Hero

Now I know the "What's the Last Movie You Watched?" thread is present and going strong, but I really think we need a good, dedicated general film thread where we can discuss anything and everything about movies. OTI has a pretty strong and dedicated group of movie lovers, and currently, the chat box is the only place we can post trailers, movie news, and other such things. This is unacceptable.

So have at it! Post trailers, impressions, interesting tidbits of news, link to your reviews, have great and awesome debates over who shot what first, and so on. and so forth. You know the drill.

Even though I have never seen any of Noe's films, I have seen enough footage, heard enough opinions, and know enough about the guy's films to get a gist of what he likes to direct. The true story of a "superstar art world couple who perished in a bizarre double suicide" sounds like it should be right up his alley. If this partnership of Gaspar Noe and Bret Easton Ellis comes together then I will definitely be interested to see this.

I just popped this thread's cherry.

I'd actually recommend his films if you've got the stomach. Irreversible is his most disturbing while Enter the Void is his most impenetrable. Regardless, this sounds interesting, for sure.

I have definitely have the stomach for them; it's just that I can be a little too lazy during the school year to sit down in front of my tv and watch a 2 and a half movie. Sometime I will get around to seeing both, though.

Also, he directed another film prior to Irreversible in 1998 called I Stand Alone. I've actually heard that it was a prequel to Irreversible from a friend of mine, but I haven't actually looked it up to make sure if it is true.

Irreversible is only an hour and a half, brah. But yeah, I can see how you can need to be in the right mood for Enter the Void.

I have heard of Stand Alone, but nothing about it being a prequel to Irreversible. Maybe thematically it is, but I wouldn't know.
