Welcome to OTI!!

If you're viewing this message, you either forgot to log in, or you are viewing this site for the very first time. If you are part of the latter, we kindly ask you to sign up and be part of our close-knit community. OTI isn't like most sites; this isn't a site where you recognize someone as, "Oh, just that douche who posts in that thread all the time and only plays Space Invaders and The Guy Game." We are like a family here, and we'll be damned if there's a closer-knit community than ours.

Hey we're 3 years old today.

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Apr 21 2013, 03:25 PM. 7 comments

Looking back to three years ago, I'd never have thought that we'd make it this far. On April 21, 2010, I had created OTI in an attempt to bring back some memories of the old OT. Today, those memories and old friends are long since gone, with the only remaining members from the old site being Blade and Sang. And yet, in just three short years, we've grown beyond that old group and created a new group which was just as close.

And while, yes, that sense of community has been what has been driving us to attempt to create a full site for OTI, it's unfortunate to have to admit that we really have not gotten far in the creation of the site at all, despite having originally announced it over a year and a half ago. Regardless, you can expect to see the launch of the site on hopefully August 20, which would mark the seventh anniversary of OTI's original incarnation.

But today's not a day to get all down because we're lazy shits. It's a day to look back and be glad that we've managed to still have such a tight-knit community after just three short years. Now let's continue picking up steam. Let's try and hit that 100,000 post milestone. Let's continue to make this place as great a place as it can be. We've survived bouts of inactivity (especially lately), rampant attacks from trollish idiots, old members leaving, and yet we've stayed strong through it all.

We are OTI, and this is our fucking forum goddammit david ortiz. Happy third birthday OTI, they grow up so damn fast.

Happy Thanksgiving Everybody

Posted by Snake (Administrator) at Nov 22 2012, 11:36 AM. 9 comments

Another year, another Turkey day. From the OTI Staff I'd like to wish you all a happy Thanksgiving and give thanks for all the people who helped build our community here.

So does anybody have any plans for the weekend? Ready to test the Mayans predicting accuracy this upcoming month?

OTI now has a domain name

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Aug 25 2012, 01:57 PM. 27 comments

Yeah, about time, huh? After many months of laziness and whatnot, we've finally set up a domain name for OTI. So, from now on, to make things easier, just type in otiforums.com instead of the whole Zetaboards line.

So yeah, feel free to go about the rest of your business now.

The New Ranks Have Been Added

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Aug 14 2012, 06:10 PM. 18 comments

Alright, so after you all voted on the ranks last week, they have finally been implemented. And thanks to Ninjendo of The Mario Forums, we also have new rank pips, so be sure to thank her for those (and once again, thanks a bunch, Jendo.)

The rank thread will be updated later on tonight.

'Hoy there, Campers, and welcome to Smash Camp - Day 4.

This here's OTI, and thanks for taking the time to register. Remember, in order to get the full 15 points, please post your Smash Camp username and cabin number in this thread.

And just remember, you're welcome to stick around here if you so choose. The key's under the mat.

Cheers,
Yeshua (Cabin 1)

A Challenge of Sorts

Posted by Snake (Administrator) at Jul 8 2012, 08:54 PM. 8 comments

I'm sure I don't need to inform you all that OTI has been going through a bit of a drought of sorts in activity. We've had some up days but overall activity has been mostly down. We've talked about, me and Joe have thought of ways to fix it. Beyond the fact its summer and people are doing all sorts of stuff that isn't being on their computer, there just hasn't been much to talk about in terms of gaming or even just news. We've thought of recruiting but lets face it, our community is established. We aren't winning any awards for community size (wow that could easily be mocked or played on) but we've got plenty of committed members and every once and a while a newbie comes a long, the most recent being someone like Shepard who has proved to be a solid and valuable addition to our community. And I think we can all agree that at the end of the day, we have the best community out there and we don't need anyone else to make it better. So instead of harping on all of this, I'm just going to come out and give everyone a challenge. Do something, post something, take dick pics and send them to Stubbs.

But really, I'm challenging (or really, proposing) that we I guess, just talk really. Post threads, fill up the Chat Box, do anything. As long as it isn't against the rules, just fucking go for it. Kind of like we did with the cross forum challenge, where we had a huge activity day that was filled with also a lot of quality discussion.

So I've thrown it out into the open. Consider it whatever you like, hell even a contest if you feel like it. Also if you feel like you have a much better idea than my horrible Braveheart speech, feel free to mention it.

Smash Camp 2012

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Jul 3 2012, 09:30 PM. 28 comments

Alright, so for those who don't know, OTI is participating in this even called Smash Camp. It's being run by two people over at The Mario Forums, Spirit and Mike. I could go into detail about it but I think this little announcement made by the two of them could explain it better than I could:

Quote:

Hello! It’s that time of year again, so welcome one and all to Smash Camp 2012!

This year you’ll find a lot of the same fun you’ve become accustomed to in the first five years of Smash Camp, along with some new activities! We plan on having a little bit of something for everyone this year!

Smash Camp, of course, includes the opportunities to chat with splendid people from many of the Nintendo themed Zetaboard websites! In addition to this social community aspect we have a variety of competitions for all to enjoy! And, a Smash Camp first: REAL PRIZES! Yay!
Here’s a quick teaser at some of the fun activities we have planned:
  • 3 Tournaments (assuming they garner the appropriate interest) with cash rewards to the winners!
  • Daily flash games! A Smash Camp staple for competitive fun!
  • Signature and writing contests! If flash games aren’t your thing, let your creative side shine here!
  • Forums Scavenger Hunts! These creative tasks will encourage traffic on participating forums!
  • And, of course, much, much more!

So, come one, come all and JOIN SMASH CAMP TODAY!

Quote:

Let's begin with a simple question that many newcomers may be asking: what is Smash Camp? Smash Camp is a virtual summer camp. It was initially based on Super Smash Brothers, but as time went on, it transitioned into something much more broad. It's based off all things Nintendo and we aim to make it fun experience for all. This year, we'll be offering game tournaments (including Super Smash Bros Brawl, Mario Kart 7, and Pokemon Online), real prizes for winners (including monetary prizes for tournaments and some other fun items for various events), and many other friendly competitions (including art contests, writing contests, and high scores in flash games). To make it more interesting, campers are sorted into one of the following groups: Cabin 1, 2, 3, or 4. These cabins work individually to bring in a victory. Participating and winning any of the events will earn you points for your cabin and will help lead your cabin to victory. It is essentially the same idea as Nintendo's Camp Hyrule (if you remember way back when). We hope you stick around and enjoy all the fun!

So, if any of this interests you, then feel free to join up. This would also be a great way to get OTI some much-needed publicity, so you'd be helping out OTI while at the same time having some fun.

So just so you all know

Posted by Snake (Administrator) at Jun 17 2012, 08:43 PM. 20 comments

So I learned that Yeshua, or Joe if you prefer, has had his computer crap out on him. He'll be gone for a while, which obviously sucks. He brings a great deal of activity, beyond being a good friend and our head admin. I'm not actually sure how long he'll be gone, he just it'd be for a little while. I'm assuming a week, but I'm not sure.

So just thought I'd let you all know and whatnot. We'll have to step up our game so activity doesn't completely get wiped out lol.

Question about contests

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Jun 8 2012, 07:31 PM. 5 comments

Alright, so two years ago we decided to roll with the ideas of having contests every now and then and see where they would go. The first couple contests went very well, but in the past year or so, any contest that we've tried to hold just hasn't really caught on with the community.

That being said, we would like to know if you guys are still interested in having contests around here. There doesn't seem to be much point in keeping the contests board if you guys don't have much interest in them.

So tl;dr: Contests, keep or remove?

Happy 2nd Birthday, OTI

2 years ago, Omega Twilight Infinity was formed from the ashes of the old OT and GIO. It's wings were that of a majestic phoenix and its balls were as hefty as Michael Fassbender's.

Together, this place formed from just an alternative to escape from the hideously designed forums of the new GIO to a full-fledged community that was about as tightly knit together as your grandmother's lovingly stitched stockings. We had hilarious threads, extensive discussions, a well-rounded group of people with varying opinions, and we've only grown as a community more and more with each passing day.

Within these two years, we've had Brett Hicks flailing his arms at us like a bitch, we've had Sarin brag about his ridiculous RE collection, we've had Brady pronouncing games to be the GOTY before playing them for a while and realizing they aren't that good, we've had Blade splooge over Halo constantly in usual Blade fashion, we've had my love affair with Joseph Barnaby Lee (Otherwise known as Yeshua), Graham's pedophiliac nature along with his anthem "The Song of the Manwhore", my consistently updated movie reviews that nobody reads, the war between the Gentlemen's Club and the Trailer Park Peons, the shared love of A Song of Fire and Ice, TBBucs20's constant lobbying of games we wouldn't have played if not for him (OKAY I'M BUYING WITCHER 2 YOU FUCK), the meme encyclopedia that we do not use AT ALL anymore, Rety's love of Ponies, Smackey and Stubbs's beautiful bromosexuality together, and last but certainly not least............that one ginger kid who does things, I guess...

Together, we have become unstoppable. Together, we have become a community. Damnit Jeff Winger Speech

Here's to another two years of nerdiness, douchebaggery, and Blade. :drink:

So we're doing this cross-forum contest thing

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Apr 19 2012, 08:58 PM. 121 comments

So, some of you here may be aware of a fellow forum called The Mario Forums. A few OTI'ers originally hailed from TMF (Curry, Mac, etc) so the name should at least be familiar. I've been in talks with their admin Hissae (not sexy talks, you can breathe now, Bigglesworth) about a possible cross-forum contest thing and this is what we came up with.

On Wednesday May 2nd, 2012, all day, we will be competing with TMF to get the most posts in one day. It will start at midnight eastern time and end at midnight eastern time 24 hours later. Regular forum rules still apply, so no posting just for the hell of it. Make good posts (well, good by our standards).

So yeah, let's try and be active for a day or something. Make cool threads like that hot chicks thread that Blade made or something.

A prize has yet to be determined. If we can't figure something out then the winning forum will just get an erotic picture of Smackey or something.

Important News in Regards to OTIS

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Feb 8 2012, 11:33 PM. 16 comments

Okay, so this is pretty important (and frustrating) news in regards to OTIS. For those who read recent posts in the Chat Box, you'll notice that we recorded a new episode this weekend. Many of you are also aware that we upload the podcast to Mevio, which in turns, uploads it to iTunes. However, when I tried uploading it this past weekend, I got this message:

Posted Image

Why this has happened, we don't know yet. I sent an email to Mevio's support staff on Sunday and they still haven't gotten back to me as to why our Mevio channel has been deactivated. We are weighing other options to upload the podcast, including Mediafire (unlikely because of what happened to Megaupload) and maybe even Youtube.

Sorry for those of you who enjoy OTIS (all zero of you). We hope to get this all sorted out soon and bring you more episodes of our terrible podcast.

Happy New Year!

Posted by Snake (Administrator) at Jan 1 2012, 06:17 PM. 13 comments

Happy 2012 everybody! This is the year we will likely seen another doomsday theory debunked. If it is however the last year on Earth, I guess we'll never see how the unholy mindfuck the Assassins Creed series ends. Overall it has been a good year for OTI, and hopefully all you guys enjoyed 2011 as a whole. Some Resolutions for OTI I have are stuff like this.

100,000 posts (it could definitely happen if we could some 300 post days speaking of...)

200+ posts a day. I challenge you guys to post more than ever. I'm not asking for junk, but don't be afraid to post a new thread that could spark a Finer Things Club kind of following. Worst case is we the Mods lock it or move it. No harm there.

Get more new, quality, active members. You can never have enough of those.

For me personally I have shit like this.

Finish editing my damn novel and try and sell it.

Do some charity works.

And I also wouldn't mind getting 10,000+ posts on OTI.

So again, Happy New Year everybody! Hope 2012 is a good one for all of you.

Important Question for the Community

Posted by Snake (Administrator) at Dec 12 2011, 08:41 PM. 22 comments

The Staff has been kicking around a pretty huge idea lately. One that we had in mind a full year ago and abandoned, but given the growth of the community and other things, have revisited. What is this idea? The creation of an OTI Website, packed with content such as blogs and other goodies we haven't had the chance to incorporate correctly with the Zetaboards forum tech.

I know how this sounds, it's kinda risky but there are several pluses to this.

1) The community would be allowed to access early builds of the site's and tell us what they think. You'd be with us from beginning to end and then some.

2) OTI itself would never stop running. The forum would still be up and active which segways to.

3) The Zetaboards forum would likely be a part of the website anyway, leaving no thread forgotten. If this can't happen, which would disappoint us greatly and probably stall these plans for a while, we would likely invest into purchasing a Lithium Forum or something similarly high grade. We aren't going to new GI you and leave the forums a mess. They will either be equal or better to the current format.

With all of that in mind, please vote in the poll. Your answer will be the difference to the future of the site.

Potential Downtime

Posted by Yeshua (Administrator) at Dec 12 2011, 05:49 PM. 0 comments

Alright, so, apparently Zetaboards is upgrading their servers to be faster, more powerful, and more reliable. They're gonna be working on it tonight, so there's a chance that OTI will be down for an hour or two. Nothing wrong with the site, don't worry. Just standard maintenance. I'm sure you'll all find a way to entertain yourself for that long.
